About

Experience the wonders of a traditional Japanese Tea Ceremony with Yukie Williams and presented by Yukie Scott.

Yukie Williams has over 11 years' experience practising Japanese tea ceremonies, known as sadō (茶道), inspired by her early years in Japan.

Set in our tranquil gallery space, this intimate demonstration will give you an insight into the cultural traditions surrounding the Japanese Tea Ceremony and the chance to taste authentic matcha tea and traditional sweets from Japan.

During the session you will learn about the details and meaning behind each step of the ceremony.

The tea ceremonies run on Thursdays every month: 21 March, 25 April, 30 May and 11 July

Session 1: 11:00 – 11:45am
Session 2: 12:00 – 12:45pm

(This event is suitable for age 13 and above. Maximum 6 people per session)

The session also includes:

The chance to explore the galleries and discover our temporary exhibitions and exquisite collections, including tea-ware from East and Southeast Asia.

With every ticket you will be gifted a 3g small matcha tea pouch courtesy of Comins Tea. Matcha (抹茶) is the traditional powdered green tea used during the Japanese Tea Ceremony.
