About
The Ceramic Plate Carving Workshop offers a creative pottery experience in Saltford, near Bristol, where participants can learn how to make their own hand-carved ceramic plate from scratch.
Hosted by Rebecca Rose Ceramics at Flourish at Glenavon Farm, the two-hour workshop is designed to be beginner-friendly, making it suitable for anyone looking to try pottery in Bristol or the surrounding area. No previous ceramics experience is required, and all materials are provided.
During the workshop, participants will shape their own plate from slabs of clay before covering it with coloured slip. They can then use carving tools to create their own patterns and designs, revealing the white clay underneath and creating a distinctive decorative effect.
The process offers a relaxing and hands-on introduction to clay carving, with guidance available throughout the session. Participants are encouraged to bring a few design ideas with them, although there will be plenty of support to help develop their creations.
Once finished, the plates will be left to dry and fired before being ready for collection from the venue approximately two to four weeks after the workshop. Each participant will leave with a unique, handmade ceramic plate.
The workshop costs £30 per person and accommodates between one and 10 guests, making it suitable for individuals, friends and small groups looking for creative things to do near Bristol.
