Sunday Lunch

There’s nothing more British than tucking into a hearty roast dinner on a Sunday afternoon, and when it comes to finding the perfect place for a mouth-watering Sunday lunch, Bath doesn’t disappoint.

Go local at Green Park Brasserie, where you can opt for Newton Farm topside beef and Yorkshire pudding or Castlemead free-range chicken breast with bread sauce, both served with roast potatoes and seasonal Bath Farmers’ Market vegetables.

Tuck into a roast in a traditional pub in the city centre at The Marlborough Tavern or The Pig & Fiddle.

Many of the city’s luxury hotels also offer delicious three-course Sunday lunches. The Restaurant at No.15 by Guesthouse serves up indulgent roast dinners complete with carrot purée, Yorkshire pudding, seasonal greens, roast potatoes and cauliflower cheese. Or head to the The Walled Garden Restaurant at Lucknam Park for tasty options including Roundway Hill pork, Cornish hake, and a butterbean and walnut roast.

For an Italian take on the Sunday roast, try Osteria Partenopea on Upper Borough Walls, where porchetta, chicken, Italian sausage and medium-rare onglet steak come together on one plate.

Venture into the countryside for Sunday lunch in a cosy, rural setting at The PIG-near Bath, The C rown near Dyrham Park, The George Inn or The Manor House Inn in Somerset, or The Langford on the edge of the Mendip Hills.

If you prefer your Sunday lunch meat-free, indulge in a delicious two- or three-course meal at OAK Restaurant. With a seasonally changing, plantbased menu, expect fresh flavours sourced locally.
