About

The Cross Guns is now open for the summer season.

The Cross Guns at Avoncliff - a historic, riverside pub with wonderful views of the River Avon - is now open again, after being taken on by the Iford Manor Estate.

A much-loved stop for walkers, river-goers and locals, the pub now has a riverside menu of light bites for the summer, alongside a drinks offering of local beer and cider. Please note that as the pub kitchen remains closed due to structural works, The Cross Guns regrets that they cannot take any table reservations for summer 2026. Food is available to order from the shack on the terrace.

Since the 1600s, the Cross Guns has been serving pints in this enviable location: overlooking the River Avon, with a picturesque pub garden nestled below an impressive 1801 canal aqueduct.

Lagers and beers from a variety of local breweries, including True Story, Westbury, Electric Bear, Bath and Kettlesmith, Bradford on Avon - and Iford Ciders are on offer to accompany the new food menu, which boasts which boasts delicious burgers, focaccia, buddha bowls, fries, waffles and soft serve ice cream as well as fresh coffee and cakes.

The Cross Guns is the perfect location for a pitstop along the canal or river. Enjoy a pint or two, grab a bite and enjoy the view!

Well behaved dogs on short leads welcome.
