About

Set on the banks of the River Avon in the heart of Bradford on Avon, Timbrell’s Yard is a riverside restaurant with rooms that celebrates the very best of the South West through its food, drink and hospitality.

Locally-Sourced Menu

The menus at Timbrell's Yard are guided by the seasons and shaped by close relationships with local farmers, growers, producers and suppliers. Wherever possible, the restaurant sources ingredients from Somerset, Wiltshire, Dorset and the wider West Country, regularly adapting dishes to make the most of what is at its best. Timbrell's Yard believes that great food starts with great ingredients, and provenance is central to everything they do.

Their beef is supplied by Buxton Butchers and is fully traceable to individual animals raised on the lush pastures of the West Country. Poultry and lamb come from Mark at Prime Cuts in Shaftesbury, while fish is sourced from British waters through Kingfisher of Brixham. Eggs come from Fluffetts, where hens roam freely across extensive grassland, and their yoghurts are supplied by Brown Cow Organics in Pilton. The restaurant champions some of the South West’s most exciting cheesemakers and bake their bread, burger buns and biscuits in-house using organic Shipton Mill and Doves Farm flours. Jams, chutneys, piccalilli and sauces are made in the the restaurant's kitchen, and they churn their own ice cream. Gluten-free alternatives are also available on request.

Pizzas

Alongside the seasonal menus, Timbrell’s Yard has become known for its wood-fired pizzas, served from their riverside terrace and restaurant. Cooked in a traditional wood-fired oven, their pizzas feature carefully sourced ingredients and change with the seasons. Favourites include combinations showcasing West Country cheeses, locally cured meats and seasonal vegetables, creating a relaxed dining experience that makes the most of their waterside setting.

At The Chapel Pop-Up Bakery

Every Tuesday, Friday and Sunday Timbrell’s Yard hosts the popular At The Chapel pop-up bakery, bringing artisan breads and pastries from its siter hotel in Bruton into the centre of Bradford on Avon.

Beverages

Timbrell's Yard's drinks offering is equally rooted in the region. They work with a range of South West breweries, cider makers, vineyards and distillers, championing independent producers wherever possible. Seasonal cocktails often feature local spirits, including Sapling Vodka and Penrhos Gin, alongside fresh ingredients inspired by the surrounding countryside.

Sunday Roasts

Sunday is a particular highlight at Timbrell’s Yard. From midday onwards, guests gather for their popular Sunday roast, featuring carefully sourced meats, crisp roast potatoes, seasonal vegetables, Yorkshire puddings and generous homemade gravy. Served in the restaurant or overlooking the river, it has become a favourite with both local residents and visitors alike.

Whether joining them for breakfast, a leisurely lunch, riverside pizzas, Sunday lunch or an overnight stay, guests at TImbrell's Yard can expect ingredient-led cooking, warm hospitality and a genuine celebration of the South West’s exceptional food and drink heritage.

Accessibility Information

All the public areas at Timbrell’s Yard are on the ground floor. All doors and corridors are wide enough for a wheelchair. There is level access to the terrace and patio area from the bar.

Allergen Statement

If you have an allergy, the restaurant can adjust some dishes on the menu. All staff are trained in dealing with allergy requests but it is reccomended to speak to a manager, who will be able to run through the recipes for you.

Timbrell's Yard cook from scratch in the kitchen, which makes most adjustments straightforward. However, many of the dishes prepared in the kitchen contain dairy, nuts, flours and other allergenic ingredients so the restaurant can never guarantee that food is completely allergen free.
