About
Ever wondered what it's like to fly a passenger jet? At JetEx Simulation, just 20 minutes from Bath and 45 minutes from Bristol, visitors can climb into a real Boeing 737 cockpit and take the controls of a full motion flight simulator, one of only a handful open to the public in the UK, and the only one near Bristol.
Flight simulation experiences
Unlike ordinary simulators, where the cockpit stays still and only the screens move, a JetEx flight simulator experience moves you. Guests feel the push of take-off, the lift as the nose rises, the bumps of turbulence and the thud of landing. The simulator is built around a genuine Boeing 737 cockpit, with realistic controls, immersive sound and stunning wraparound visuals covering more than 24,000 airports worldwide. Fly by day or night, in calm skies or a stormy crosswind, landing anywhere from Bristol to the breathtaking mountain approach into Innsbruck.
What to expect
No flying experience is necessary. Every session begins with a friendly briefing, and a qualified pilot instructor sits alongside throughout, including a retired airline captain with over 17,000 flying hours. Sessions run for 30, 60, 90 or 120 minutes and suit everyone from complete beginners to seasoned flight sim fans. Friends and family can watch from the viewing area, and one guest can even join the flight in the cockpit.
Other offers and courses
JetEx also offers a range of other experiences:
Gift Vouchers: sent by email within two hours of purchase and valid for three years, a popular gift for birthdays, Christmas and Father's Day.
Fear of Flying Course: a relaxed, one-to-one session where an airline captain talks guests through every sound and sensation of a flight, with time in the simulator included. Friends can come along for free.
Future Flyers: a half-day course for aspiring young pilots aged 12 to 18, combining ground school with hands-on flying and career advice. Pilot Training: assessment preparation and simulator hours for aspiring and professional pilots.
Group Days: a fun and memorable team day out with friendly landing competitions.

JetEx experience details
JetEx welcomes visitors by appointment every day and has free on-site parking, with train links from both Bath and Bristol. The experience suits anyone aged 12 and over (under-18s must be accompanied by an adult). As the simulator is a genuine aircraft cockpit reached by a short flight of steps, guests with limited mobility or health conditions are encouraged to call ahead so the team can help plan their visit.
A visit to JetEx makes a brilliant addition to a day out exploring Bath, Longleat or the surrounding countryside.
Accessibility
JetEx Simulation's Boeing 737 simulator utilises a genuine aircraft cockpit mounted on a motion platform and reached by steps and a drawbridge. Guests need to be able to climb into the pilot's seat and, in the unlikely event of an emergency, leave the simulator by ladder.
Guests with limited mobility, a disability or a health condition (including heart, back or neck problems, motion sickness or claustrophobia) are encouraged to contact the team before booking.
JetEx will give honest advice and do its best to make the experience work. Sessions are one-to-one and paced to the individual, and the simulation can be paused at any time.
Friends, family and carers can watch from the viewing area. Free parking is available on site. Step-free access to an accessible toilet is available.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Does anyone need flying experience to use the JetEx simulator? No. JetEx Simulation welcomes complete beginners. Every session starts with a pre-flight briefing, and a pilot instructor sits alongside the guest throughout, guiding them through take-off, flying and landing.
What is the difference between full motion and a fixed-base simulator? In a fixed-base simulator the cockpit stays still. The JetEx Boeing 737 sits on a six-axis motion platform, so guests physically feel acceleration, turbulence, banking and touchdown, as pilots do in airline training simulators.
What is the minimum age for experiences with JetEx Simulation? JetEx Simulation experiences are open to anyone aged 12 and over. Under-18s must be accompanied by an adult. The Future Flyers course is designed specifically for 12 to 18-year-olds.
Does JetEx Simulation offer gift vouchers? Yes. JetEx gift vouchers are emailed within two hours of purchase, are transferable and are valid for three years.
Can friends and family watch during a JetEx Simulation experience? Yes. Friends and family can watch from the viewing area, and one guest can join the flight in the cockpit.
Is JetEx Simulation suitable for nervous flyers? Yes. JetEx runs a dedicated one-to-one Fear of Flying Course with a retired airline captain. Guests experience take-off, turbulence and landing safely on the ground, with every sensation explained, and can pause at any time. A friend can come along for free.
Is there parking at JetEx Simulation? Yes. Free parking is available on site at Commerce Park, Frome.
Is the simulator accessible for guests with limited mobility? The simulator is a genuine aircraft cockpit reached by steps, so access may be difficult for guests with limited mobility. JetEx Simulation asks guests to get in touch before booking so the team can give honest advice about what is possible.
