Barchester Towers, published in 1857, is the second of Anthony Trollope's Barsetshire series of novels and takes the reader into the world of a fictional English cathedral city as its settled order is disrupted by the arrival of an unwelcome new bishop, his overbearing wife and an obnoxious chaplain.
