About

Landscape, light & legend in music with Bath Phil and virtuoso pianist Mariam Batsashvili.

Witness one of Europe's most exciting pianists as Mariam Batsashvili brings all the fire, poetry and breathtaking brilliance of Franz Liszt's First Piano Concerto to Bath. A prize-winner at the Franz Liszt International Piano Competition, Mariam has captivated audiences worldwide with performances of extraordinary imagination and technical mastery; her playing is as exhilarating as it is deeply expressive.

Around this dazzling centrepiece, Bath Philharmonic Orchestra invites you to discover some of the very best contemporary music. Jay Capperauld, Aileen Sweeney and Judith Weir each paint vivid musical landscapes inspired by Scotland and the natural world.

The concert culminates in Jean Sibelius's Seventh Symphony—a work that seems to breathe, grow and unfold before your ears, carrying audience members from quiet contemplation to an overwhelming sense of hope.

From sparkling virtuosity to sweeping orchestral grandeur, this is an evening rich in atmosphere and colour that seems to glow from within the orchestra.

Whether you're a lifelong concertgoer or discovering orchestral music for the first time, this is what Bath Philharmonic Orchestra is all about: world-class artists, fearless programming and the shared joy of experiencing something extraordinary together.
