The friendship between Benjamin Franklin and William Strahan was one of the most significant relationships of the Enlightenment. What began as a business connection across the Atlantic Ocean between two aspiring printers, evolved into a deep, affectionate family bond which included Benjamin's son, William, when the Franklins arrived in London in 1757.
These close family ties were severely tested during and after the American Revolution.
