About
Two monsoons: this was often the life-span of Britons in India before they succumbed to illness, warfare or accident – just two years. Their graves lie wherever the East India Company set foot.
In this talk at Bath Royal Literary and Scientific Institution, Dr Rosie Llewellyn-Jones will tell the story of the British experience in the Indian sub-continent by focusing on civilian graves and memorials to officers of the East India Company and their families, and those working after 1858 for the British Raj.
Speaker Dr Rosie Llewellyn-Jones MBE is an authority on colonial India.
