About

The White Hart, Somerton is a historic coaching inn where exceptional food, local produce and warm Somerset hospitality come together in the heart of one of the county’s most charming market towns.

Food and drink are at the centre of the experience. Menus are shaped by the seasons and built around relationships with trusted local suppliers, celebrating the rich agricultural heritage of Somerset and the wider South West. Wherever possible, ingredients are sourced from nearby farms, growers and producers, ensuring dishes reflect both the landscape and the people behind it.

Localy-sourced produce

The kitchen works closely with Buxton Butchers, whose beef and lamb are fully traceable to individual animals raised on West Country pastures. Fish is sourced from British waters through Kingfisher of Brixham, while free-range eggs come from Fenton Farm. Yoghurts are supplied by Brown Cow Organics in Pilton and cheeses are sourced from some of the South West’s most respected artisan producers. Bread and burger buns are baked in-house using organic Shipton Mill and Doves Farm flours, while jams, chutneys, sauces and ice cream are all made by the kitchen team.

The White Hart’s menus combine comforting pub classics with more contemporary seasonal dishes, creating food that is approachable, generous and rooted in provenance.

Pizzas

Alongside the main menu, the wood-fired pizza offering has become a popular part of the pub’s identity. Served throughout the week, the pizzas feature carefully sourced ingredients and seasonal toppings, providing a relaxed dining option for families, locals and visitors alike.

Beverages

The drinks offering is equally focused on championing regional producers. Guests can enjoy Harry’s Scrummage cider, delivered personally by the award-winning local cider maker, alongside Kicking Goat Somerset Cider, Mowbarton wines from nearby Wedmore and beers from Bristol’s acclaimed Lost & Grounded Brewery. Butcombe ales and Goram 0% beer also feature on the bar, ensuring a strong local choice across both alcoholic and low-alcohol options. Cocktails, both classic and seasonal, are always a feature.

At The Chapel pop-up bakery

Every Monday, The White Hart hosts the popular At The Chapel pop-up bakery, bringing artisan breads and pastries from Bruton into the centre of Somerton. The bakery has become a much-loved weekly fixture, attracting both local residents and visitors while further strengthening the pub’s connection to the wider food community of the South West.

Sunday roasts

Sundays are a highlight, with traditional roasts served in the dining rooms and courtyard. Carefully sourced meats, seasonal vegetables, crisp roast potatoes, Yorkshire puddings and rich homemade gravy have made Sunday lunch a favourite for both locals and visitors.

Whether stopping for coffee, wood-fired pizza, a long lunch, evening meal or Sunday roast, guests can expect ingredient-led cooking, genuine hospitality and a true celebration of Somerset’s outstanding food and drink culture.
