About
What is Yak Yeti Yak?
As the first genuine Nepalese restaurant to open in the UK, Yak Yeti Yak is a 'one of a kind' independent dining experience. Former Himalayan guides Sarah and Sera Gurung have been bringing the flavours of Nepal to Bath since 2004.
Yak Yeti Yak is a relaxed and friendly restaurant where you are made to feel at home.
The menu is based on a collection of recipes gathered by the owners from their travels and from living alongside locals.
Family favourites, ancient culinary customs and contemporary innovation blend seamlessly into a unique menu.
Enjoy a house cocktail in one of the 3 dining areas, tables and chairs, the Nepalese dining room with floor cushions or alfresco in the courtyard.
A fish trap made by jungle fishermen, a wooden saddle from the nomadic tribesmen of the Tibetan plateau and the Yak Yeti Yak banner that went to the summit of Everest are amongst the curios you'll find adorning the walls.
Popular dishes:
- Momos - delicately spiced stuffed and steamed dumplings, served with fresh tomato chutney, chicken and vegetable / vegan options
- Yak Yeti Yak Chicken - stir-fried chicken slices marinated with garlic, fenugreek and mild aromatic spices
- Aloo Tamar - fermented bamboo shoots braised with black-eye peas, new potatoes and fresh tomato, vegan
- Gaajarko Crumble - sweetened spiced carrot haluwa on a soy crumble base with cinnamon cream and crushed pistachios, vegetarian
Charity commitment
YYY Foundation was started by Sarah and Sera in 2015 in the wake of a series of earthquakes in Nepal. The charity is UK-registered and has rebuilt several schools. Today, YYY Foundation works to end period discrimination in schools. They provide menstrual education and washable period products alongside bringing a world-class IT education to schools in remote areas of Nepal. For more information, visit yyyfoundation.com
