About

The Monthly Visitor returns to the Living Room on Friday 31st July, with Mara Simpson headlining July's edition.

Hosted by How Dare She, The Monthly Visitor is a regular night dedicated to music by female and non-binary writers. Expect originals, covers and collaborations, a laid-back and informal atmosphere, and a special guest artist on the night.

Mara is a multi-instrumentalist, performing artist, producer and composer working across electronic and acoustic instruments, tape machines, analogue synths and field recordings. Her fourth studio album, Living Matter (2025), was written and engineered in a studio she built herself with collaborator Philippe Nash, in response to a set of poems by JLM Morton from her book Red Handed. Centred on our connection to green and blue spaces, ancient land and artefact, the album has become a 6Music favourite, been performed live on stages across the country, and reimagined as a spatial sound installation for Hidden Notes Festival 2025.

Doors 6.30pm, music 7 to 9pm, upstairs in the Living Room. Stairs only, no lift.
